European Commission: Public consultation on post-i2010: priorities for new strategy for European information society (2010-2015)
In August 2009 the European Commission DG INFSO and Media has launched a public consultation on post-i2010: priorities for new strategy for European information society (2010-2015)
The objective of the consultation is to help prepare a new EU strategy for the information society, as the current i2010 strategy is coming to a close this year. All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation. Closing date of the consultation is 9 October 2009. The consultation questionnaire includes at least one section of interest to the issues relating to ageing and the silver economy. This is section E on “Coping with an ageing society”
In section E it says “ICT-based solutions are essential to address the implications of an ageing society on personal and national wealth and ensure sustainability of welfare systems and support of aged dependents. An older European population might face bigger difficulties in benefiting from ICT, unless further efforts are put in action now.” The Commission then asks “How can ICT better address the challenges associated with ageing and how can ageing populations be enabled, through ICT and e-accessibility solutions, to benefit from independent living and personalised care, and continue to participate actively in the society and to generate wealth?”
