Description

As a crossing point between Europe and Africa and a point at which the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean Sea, Andalusia represents 17.3% of Spanish territory. With a surface area of 87,268 km², it is larger than countries such as Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Austria and Switzerland. The diversity of its landscapes and landforms creates a varied scenery, ranging from the hot Guadalquivir valley, to the lush sierras of the mountains, as well as the volcanic landscape of the Tabernas desert or the Sierra Nevada’s snow-capped mountains.

Andalucia is one of the seventeen autonomous communities that constitute Spain. Its capital is Seville. Andalucia is bounded on the north by Extremadura and Castile-La Mancha, on the east by Murcia, on the south by the Mediterranean Sea and Gibraltar, and on the west by Portugal.
